9/11

I just can't believe it's 9/11 again. And I can't believe it was 7 years ago. I'm sure you know where I'm coming from when I say that I can remember exactly what I was doing and where I was when I heard the WTC towers had been hit. It's as if I am transported back in time when I watch and listen to the coverage from that day.

I was a freshman at UGA and had just gotten out of math class. It was about 9:15 or so, when I stepped off the bus at my dorm and I heard someone say, "Did you hear? We're at war!" I walked up to my dorm and a note taped to the front doors stated that classes had been cancelled. I ran up to my 10th floor dungeon-of-a-room and immediately turned on the T.V. I got caught up with the earlier events of that morning and watched in horror as the media replayed the planes crashing into the World Trade towers. I tried to call my mom, but couldn't get through on my cell, so I packed up some clothes and got in my car and started driving home.

I have never been so proud of my country as I was in the months to follow, and I've never been so thankful to have a man of faith as our President.

These are just some thoughts that were on my mind today. I just want to say thank you to all those men and women who fought with the terrorists on United 93, who rescued others from the towers, who fight for our freedom today. And for those who lost their lives on 9/11/01, know that you are still in our thoughts and prayers.

God bless.
